Welcome Zach to the LRC Staff!

Hello, students and parents of LRC!

My name is Zach Ostlund, and I am the new student ministry intern at Living Rock Church. I am so excited to meet all of you!

Here’s a little about myself: I grew up in Ortonville, MN. It is a small town located at the bottom of the bump on the western border. You can look across the lake and see South Dakota! In school, I was involved in multiple extracurricular activities. I played tuba in the band, sang in the choir, did theater, and ran cross country my senior year. 

I am a recent graduate of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. I studied youth ministry. During my time there, I sang in the men’s chorus and served as a ministry partner and a resident assistant. I loved my time there!

I love board games! Settlers of Catan is probably my favorite. I am always down for playing a round of disc golf. I love Chick-Fil-A and Taco Bell more than the average man probably should. I think deep conversations at a coffee shop are some of the best conversations ever. I generally just love hanging out with people and getting to know them better.

I became a Christian when I was around 8 years old. I am a pastor’s kid, so the church has basically been my life since I was born. At this time in my life, it just kind of hit me that all these people in church were living for more than a fairy tale. They were willing to sacrifice their desires and their lives for this story. It really meant something to them! Jesus died and rose again to save me from my sins, so I could have eternal life with Him. 

Why did I choose youth ministry? I think the youth are in a very pivotal stage in their lives where it is so easy to feel lost, confused, and alone. With all of the mixed messages that they’ll get from the world around them, they need a place where they can freely ask questions, be themselves, and learn what The Truth really is. I want to foster a community that is built on the strong foundations of Biblical teaching, building relationships, and fun. 

As I said before, I am so excited to meet all of you! Keri and I are working together to build a spectacular team of leaders for you. We will see you all at our Summer Finale, a fun night of worship and a bonfire, on Wednesday, August 30th. Our Fall Kickoff for youth group will be Wednesday, September 13th, and Connections will start Sunday, Sept 17th. See you all then!
