On August 3, 2025, 55+ kids and 25+ adults set out on a journey to True North at LRC Vacation Bible School.  We learned that when we feel alone, powerless, hopeless, helpless or are wondering, we can TRUST JESUS!  We loved using our creative energies to transform our new sanctuary into an Alaskan wilderness.  We learned a lot about how our new church space can be used for VBS and how we may want to tweak things for the coming years.

I have been involved in VBS here at LRC in various roles since its inception a number of years ago, and it has always been a sweet time of ministry for me.  Every year I ask the Lord to meet me in a new way and teach me something during those precious five days, and He always has.  This year I encouraged our staff to do the same thing.  My motto is "VBS isn't just for kids."  As adults, we can meet Christ there as well.  This month, I have heard stories from parents whose kids attended VBS who faced, even small life events, and chose to trust Jesus through them.  That is the best affirmation I could receive that our VBS program changes the lives of our kids!

We were also excited to raise $200 for our missions project to help build a playground in Sendai, Japan with Brad and Julie Nelson.  It sure was fun exploring and learning about how God reveals himself in the Alaskan wilderness, but I'm getting a little chilly in the True North.  I think it's time to head somewhere a little warmer next year.  Maybe somewhere . . . tropical!  Stay tuned for more details are we begin our journey to Rainforest Falls VBS 2026.
