I am a firm believer in seasons. And as Minnesotans we know, some seasons last longer than others. It’s true in Nature. It’s true in life. And it’s true in ministry. Over the past couple of years Lili and I have had a growing sense from the Lord that our season of ministry at LRC was coming to a close and the Lord was preparing our hearts for the next season of ministry He was leading us into, though we had no idea what that would look like.
18 months ago at General Council in Columbus, OH Pastor Mark Ashton gave a challenging message for churches and pastors to take seriously the mission and vision of the C&MA not only overseas, but also right here at home. In that session I heard very clearly from the Lord that I had delayed long enough my preparations, both personal and educational, for the next season of life and ministry the Lord would lead me and my family into. When I returned from Council, I began meeting regularly with our Assistant District Superintendent, Pastor Steve Hammer for counsel and I began my studies for ordination with the C&MA through the North Central District.
Over the last year, we have continued to pray and seek the Lord for His direction. In September I was put in contact with a church in the MidAmerica district of the C&MA in need of assistance in a unique situation of transition and we began investigating that possibility. Last month we received an official call to minister at Millard Alliance Church in Omaha, Nebraska. We see that the giftings God has given us would be a healthy fit for the future of this fellowship & that this fellowship would be a good fit for our family. We have officially accepted this call.
We will be closing out December here at LRC and making the transition near the first of the year. We would like to thank the leadership and the body at LRC for affording us the opportunity to minister along with you and to worship together over these past (nearly) 5 years. Our season here has been a time of growth for us as a family and we pray that we have touched lives for the Kingdom’s sake. We are excited for the future that lies ahead for Living Rock Church and this region as the Lord leads you to be PLANTED in your first 7-day a week ministry facility, and we are honored to have played a small role in making that dream a reality.
We love you, and we want to encourage you to press in to the call that the Lord is laying on your heart for this next season in your life, in your family and here in your church family at Living Rock Church! God bless you all.
In His Service,
Pastor Shawn & Lili
